We allow adult games on IGDB as long as they abide by the following guidelines.

Please note: We are aware that there are several games on IGDB that go against our own guidelines. We're currently working on a solution that will permit all games in the near future. Until that solution has been implemented, we are placing a freeze on adult games with specific themes. This means that we will maintain our current collection (they won't be deleted), but we won't accept new games that violate our policies. We will let you know when things have been updated.

Restricted Types of Adult Games

If a game contains any of the following, it will be rejected on IGDB:

Games that violate our content policy.

• Games that promotes/encourages rape or other sexual violence.
• Sexual content including minors (ie. lolicon/shotacon)
• Incest (Blood and Non-Blood)
• Erotic games that aren’t properly tagged (see Keywords section below)
• We may also reject covers and/or screenshots that we deem to be too sexually suggestive.

Safe for Work Versions

Some erotic titles may have two versions: an adult and a SFW version. If the game with adult content violates our guidelines, we will still allow the version without the erotic content (demos/trial versions not included).

Cover

A cover can not contain full nudity or explicit sexual content. Characters with minimal clothing are fine as long as there isn't any nudity. It has to be safe for work (SFW). If you can't find a SFW cover, you can make a simple cover using the logo. If you are having trouble, feel free to reach out in the database channel on Discord for help.

Screenshots

Screenshots will not be allowed if they contain nudity or sexual acts. Even if the screenshot contains filtered nudity by using black bars or blurry effects, these will still not be accepted.

Videos

All videos, including teasers, trailers, and gameplay need to be free of nudity and sexual acts to be accepted.

Themes

Adult games with pornographic content should always be tagged with the "Erotic" theme.

Note: Sometimes it's hard to know if a game deserves the 'erotic' theme or not. If a game has nudity or sexual content and the intent of the game is arousal, the 'erotic' theme should be added. Video Games that might have a sexual scene or two for the sake of the story doesn't need the tag, but it would still be good to add 'sexual content' or 'nudity' as a keyword when relevant.

Keywords

Any sexually loaded keywords will not be accepted.

If you add a SFW version of an adult game, you should add the keyword “nsfw version exist”. Keywords like “nsfw_dlc” or “nsfw_patch” can also be added (if applicable).

Non-erotic games with nudity

Some games contain nudity but would not be considered erotic. If nudity is present in marketing materials for these games, such as the official cover, screenshots, and videos, we will accept them on a case-by-case basis. Some examples of games like this are Genital Jousting and Oshiri Tantei: Pupu Mirai no Meitantei Toujou!.
