First of all, you must learn how to solder! The most common issue with making DIY steering wheels is bad solder joints. It's recommended to use good quality solder with a clean solder tip, as this will impact your soldering experience and results dramatically.
We suggest getting some practice solder boards, because not only do you need to understand how to solder, you also need to get in some practice before you do it on your expensive electronics. See below for some videos on soldering techniques!
