Installing QModManager on macOS - toebeann/BepInEx.SubnauticaZero GitHub Wiki

This guide was written for macOS Monterey. The instructions below should still work for other versions of macOS, but there may be some slight differences.

If you run into any unexpected issues while following this guide, join the Subnautica Modding discord server and send a message in one of the #help-and-support channels describing your problem. Make sure to mention you were following this guide, and what step you got stuck on, and I or someone else will help you out.

Prerequisites

  • You must own Subnautica: Below Zero on Steam for QModManager to work.

  • Make sure you have BepInEx v5.4.21-payload.1.5.1 or newer successfully installed and working. Follow the idiot's guide to macOS installation if you are unsure!

Installation

  1. Download the latest version of QModManager for Subnautica: Below Zero.

  2. Find Subnautica: Below Zero in your Steam library, then right-click it and choose Manage -> Browse local files.

  4. Open the downloaded QModManager archive and navigate into the BepInEx folder.

  5. Select both the patchers and plugins folders from the downloaded QModManager archive's BepInEx folder, then copy and paste them into the game's BepInEx folder - it is important to copy, not move! When asked, choose to Merge folders.

  6. In the downloaded QModManager archive, navigate into the BepInEx/core folder. Select both the 0Harmony12.dll and 0Harmony109.dll files, then drag them onto the game's BepInEx/core folder.

  7. At this point, you should be done! Run the game and you should see the Mods tab in the Options menu, and it should contain a heading for QModManager.

This means QModManager is successfully installed, and you can install mods for QModManager to the game's QMods folder which has been generated.

In some rare cases, you may need to perform these additional steps to get QModManager to work:

    1. Navigate to the game's BepInEx/plugins/QModManager folder
    2. Rename QModInstaller.dll to QModInstaller.dll.BACKUP
    3. Rename QModInstaller.dll.PATCHED to QModInstaller.dll

If you do not see a QModInstaller.dll.PATCHED file, this is usually because this operation was performed automatically for you.
