Moons

Ashourina, the largest of the moons, has a cycle of 36 days, and it used to reckon the months. It has a faint reddish tint to it, but most are too superstitious to call it pale pink.

Nasibin appears to be about one-half the diameter of Ashourina. It has a cycle of 70 days and has a faintly blue color to its light.

The smallest of the moons, Osmet, has a cycle of 613 days. It appears pale and golden in the sky.

Ashourina and Nasibin are in new phase with each other every 1,260 days (3 years, 180 days). Many of the countries or organized religions of the world have some sort of festival, observance, or event at this interval.

Ashourina and Osmet are in new phase with each other every 22,068 days (61 years, 108 days). Many cultures consider an occasion to be quite auspicious when it coincides with this event. Anything or anyone that lasts for this duration is often considered to exhibit considerable wisdom and maybe a little transmissible luck; either way, suitable respect must be paid.

Nasibin and Osmet are in new phase with each other every 42,910 days (119 years, 70 days). When the shorter-lived races of the world say “May Nasibin and Osmet smile together upon you,” they are usually wishing you a long and healthy life.

All three moons are in new phase together every 772,380 days (2145 years, 180 days). Most intelligent folk in the world hope to never see this occur, as such an event is often associated with cataclysmic tumult. Historical records prior to the previous instance of this event are exceedingly rare, and many scholars doubt the authenticity of the few such records that exist. The current year on the calendar is believed to be the number of years since the last such event.

Months of the Year

Each month has 36 days. The first day of the month is when the moon Ashourina displays its first crescent after its new phase.

Days of the Week

The world does not remember what the days of the week were, or even how many days were in a week before the last coincidence of all three moons. But by most reckoning, the first day after that coincidence was the first day of the first week of the first month of the year 1.
