Requirements
-
FFSNT Credit: id-daemon
-
An image software that can open, edit and export .DDS like Paint.net
-
G1Tool Credit: Raytwo
-
Model & Texture List Credit: Moonling & Sierra
-
Pick a model in which to retexture. For the sake of this guide we will use 3620.bin, Byleth's Head model.
-
Rename the file to 3620.bin.gz, then drag and drop it into ffsnt.exe.
-
When the popped up window closes there will be a folder with the extracted files. Open the new folder and grab the 01.g1t from inside.
-
Drag and drop the 01.g1t into ffsnt.exe. When it's done there will be a texture folder.
-
Choose what you would like to edit and open it into something like Paint.net.
-
When you're done editing go to file > save as > and select whether you want to overwrite or make a new one. Make sure that your save settings have generate Mip Maps checked and are either DXT1 or DXT5 depending on which the file originally is. You can check what it is in the G1Tool which we will get to next.
-
Open G1Tool and load the 01.g1t that was extracted earlier. Find and select the texture you are replacing. Note: on the right side there is attributes and you should make a note on the mip map count and compression format (whether it's DXT1 or DXT5).
-
Once you've found your selected texture, right click it and then click on the option "Replace". Navigate to your edited .DDS image and open it. It will most likely tell you there's too many Mipmaps and limit it to 9. As an example, we're replacing Byleth's hair. If it still shows theres 8 mipmaps, click on another texture and then click back onto the one you're editing. It will show 9 mipmaps, and we want to change it to 8 which is it's original.
Once you're done replacing your textures, save the 01.g1t.
-
Open 010 Editor and drag and drop both the .bin.gz and your edited 01.g1t into it.
- Go to your .bin.gz and press ctrl+F and search "GT1" with the search function on text.
- Then go to your 01.g1t tab and select all, then copy.
- On the bottom right there will be the letters OVR or INS. If it's INS click on it to change it to OVR.
- Back onto your .bin.gz file, paste what you copied at the start of GT1 that you searched for earlier.
- If there is "SWGQ" at the end then you will have pasted it correctly.
- Save your bin.gz and add the file as an entry in your INFO0.bin.
