JSTOR is a digital library for the scholarly community, managed by non-profit ITHAKA. JSTOR focuses mainly on articles, but has been increasing its range with monographs and edited collections. Books are automatically cut up in individual chapters, and provided with stable URLs and DOIs, sometimes in conflict with already extant persistent identifiers.

JSTOR's book submission requirements

Accessibility

In support of the EU Accessibility Act, to improve accessibility practices for ebooks, JSTOR now hosts EPUBs, which are more inclusive and accessible by design. The goal is to ensure that all of JSTOR's ebooks are available in formats that support users with disabilities and reflect forward-thinking accessibility practices.

JSTOR will continue to host PDFs (as well as EPUBs) in response to feedback from students, researchers, and faculty that prefer PDFs as a file format. Therefore, they will still require publishers to provide PDFs, but will now accept EPUB versions as well, and encourage publishers to provide them if they are available.

To ensure that ebooks on JSTOR are consistently accessible to users, JSTOR is providing publishers with two options for hosting ebooks: you can send either an accessible PDF on its own, or a standard PDF accompanied by an accessible EPUB.

For information on best practices for making either a PDF or an EPUB accessible, see Accessibility Submission Guidelines. There are many great resources for making simple changes to your PDF or EPUB workflows to enhance the accessibility of your files.
