Be sure unit it charged. Emlids charge using USB-C, and take a few hours to charge a fully discharged battery. A full charge lasts about 22 hours.

Use
Use a single short pole to connect the GPS to the backpack. Best to put it on the left side since you'll likely be mostly on the right-hand side of the trail. This will come closer to collecting the centerline.
Outdoors, power on your hotspot (in compatibility mode, if iPhone), and then power on the GPS. If it connects to your hotspot, you should see this on your phone. The light should be solid blue. If it is solid white, it is broadcasting WiFi, and you'll need to connect to it to set it to connect to your hotspot.
In Emlid Flow, make sure the unit is receiving corrections and has a FIX (upper right hand corner). It will make an audible noise when it acquires a FIX.
The unit automatically starts logging when turned on. You can turn this on and off in the Logging menu. It's recommended to stop and start logging at the beginning to just get the trail, and to stop and the end. After you stop, you can access previously saved logs from that same window, and download it from the unit (as a zip file) and share it with yourself (e.g., via email).
When done, power off the unit, and shut down the hotspot.
The zip file contains an LLH file; a text file that has your latitude, longitude, altitude, FIX status. The header can be removed if needed, and the file loaded into ArcGIS as a text file that can then be converted to a feature class. The CRS if using the NY RTK DOT corrections is NAD83(2011), and the vertical is the GRS80 ellipsoid.
