Lossless Scaling - thomasblasquez/outlander GitHub Wiki
Lossless Scaling is an application that can improve fidelity and performance for games that don't support DLSS/FSR, like Morrowind. It accomplishes this by using AI to generate additional frames and upscale the image.
Generally, I avoid using generative AI in Outlander, but I cannot deny the game changing performance increase LS provides for Morrowind. I am able to achieve a very stable 60 FPS with minimal hallucinations while using the app, though sometimes I turn it off so I can play with the CRT Shader. Things to keep in mind if you want to use Lossless Scaling:
- Lossless Scaling is $7 USD on Steam. This is not an endorsement of the product, nor is it sponsored. Buy at your own risk.
- You must disable the CRT Shader! Otherwise you will get really weird, trippy textures.
- There will be occasional hallucinations, especially when moving particularly fast or swinging the camera around quickly. Getting rid of these entirely is impossible, but they are usually small and only barely noticeable. They are most prominent on UI elements during loading or when changing tooltips quickly.
- Different hardware may require different configurations, and may have different results. It could work out of the box for you, or you might have to tinker with the settings for both Morrowind and Lossless Scaling, or the app may just not produce acceptable results for you. It is not particularly advanced, but you should be comfortable changing settings in MGE XE if you want to use LS. Here are the settings I use with a GTX 1070:
