How to Connect LinuxBox to Wi-Fi (No Ethernet Port)
Problem: LinuxBox has no Ethernet port. How do you connect it to a network?
1. Overview: Wi-Fi Setup with 3R-Installer.app
Use the 3R-Installer.app (available for Android/iOS) to configure LinuxBox’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Download links:
2. Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Step 1: Install 3R-Installer.app
Download and install the app from your device’s app store.
Step 2: Put LinuxBox into Pairing Mode
- Automatic Entry: If LinuxBox is unconfigured, it will enter pairing mode automatically (yellow LED blinks slowly).
- Manual Entry: Press the device button twice to force pairing mode.
Step 3: Launch 3R-Installer.app
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
- Open the app and wait for it to detect LinuxBox (device name: 3RHUB-XXX).
Step 4: Configure Wi-Fi
-
- Enter the Wi-Fi password.
-
- Tap 'Continue' to push the configuration to LinuxBox.
Step 5: Verify Connection
- LinuxBox will attempt to connect (yellow LED blinks quickly during setup).
- Success: Blue LED turns solid on (or shows a new status).
- Failure: Yellow LED continues blinking fast (or shows a new status, see FAQ for troubleshooting).
Tip: Keep your phone close to LinuxBox to avoid Bluetooth interference. If setup fails, retry after LinuxBox exits fast-blinking mode or restart the device.
3. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: Why can't Bluetooth find the LinuxBox device?
A1: Make sure the device is in pairing mode (yellow LED slow blinking). If not, restart or press the button twice. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and the app has Bluetooth permissions. (On Android, location permission may also be required in settings.)
Q2: Why does the yellow LED keep fast blinking after configuration?
A2: The configuration was not successful. Please try again or check if the Wi-Fi password is correct.
Q3: After configuration, the blue LED is on, but it's not connected to my intended Wi-Fi?
A3: The LinuxBox failed to connect to the new network and reverted to the previous connection. Please ensure the Wi-Fi name and password are correct.
Q4: What is the LED status means?
A4: LED Status:
- Yellow (slow blink): Waiting mode.
- Yellow (fast blink): Configuring/Offline. (Note: This status indication may be subject to change in future firmware updates.)
- Blue (solid on): Wi-Fi connected successfully.

4.2 Setup Steps
- Power on the LinuxBox. If unconfigured, it will enter pairing mode automatically (yellow LED slow blinking). Alternatively, press the device button twice to manually start pairing.
-
Open LinuxBox Finder App, search for the device, and select the target.
-
Follow the prompts to enter the Wi-Fi name and password, then send the configuration.
-
When configuration succeeds, the LinuxBox yellow LED will change to blue or other color.
Note: For best results, connect the LinuxBox Finder App to the same local network. If configuration fails, please try again after the LinuxBox exits fast blinking mode, or restart the device.
Note: If you want to switch to another WiFi network, go to the device details page and click "Unbind device".
