Micromanipulators - theunissenlab/lab-documentation GitHub Wiki
We have two hydraulic micromanipulators. They work great and really minimize jitter when lowering electrodes into the brain. They are mostly maintenance free, particularly if you remember to always leave them in the middle position so there is minimal hydraulic force during storage. If you notice one isn't working right it may need to be sent in for maintenance (to purge the lines). They both lower when you turn to the right and raise when you turn to the left. But the numbers can be counter-intuitive on both of them.
