Wyze Video Doorbell 2

The Wyze Video Doorbell 2 flashes to Thingino without any disassembly — its USB port has data lines, so it can boot into USB Cloner (DFU) mode through an OTG adapter.

Secure Boot

This device is eFuse-locked: the boot ROM verifies the bootloader before running it. Thingino handles this transparently — official release images ship with a bootloader patched for this device and boot normally on locked units. Do not flash bootloaders or full images built for other cameras; they will fail the signature check.

[!IMPORTANT] Back up the stock firmware before writing anything. The device is eFuse-locked, so a full flash dump is the only practical way to return to stock Wyze firmware later. The Web Flasher's Read function creates this backup in the same session, before you flash.

Required Materials

  • Wyze Video Doorbell 2
  • OTG adapter matching the doorbell's USB port
  • USB-A to USB-A cable
  • A genuine USB data cable (power-only cables will not work)

Instructions

  1. Retrieve the firmware image thingino-wyze_vdb2_t31x_sc301iot_atbm6031.bin from the latest release, or build your own at the image builder.
  2. Follow the USB Cloner Booting guide to connect the doorbell through the OTG adapter and enter USB Cloner Mode. No disassembly or pin shorting is needed.
  3. Open the Web Flasher in a Chromium-based browser and connect to the detected device.
  4. Use Read to save a full backup of the stock flash to your computer. Keep this file safe — it is your only way back to stock Wyze firmware.
  5. Use Write to flash the Thingino image from step 1.
  6. When flashing completes, restore the doorbell to its normal power. It boots straight into Thingino and exposes a THINGINO- configuration WiFi access point.
