How to choose between models - theliberators/columinity.docs GitHub Wiki

Columinity offers teams different scientific models. Each model provides a different perspective on a team or organization. This reflects that no single model can "rule them all". Columinity is designed to encourage teams to play with different models, using each perspective to get a richer picture of what is going on in a team.

However, each model has its focus:

  • The Agile Team Effectiveness model is ideal for Agile teams. It focuses on five core factors that shape effective Agile teams.
  • The Agile Mindset model focuses on the mindset of teams, how Agile it is, and to what extent the organization provides an environment in which such a mindset can grow
  • The Teamwork Quality model focuses on whether or not a team is actually a team, or just a group of individuals called a "team", and improving teamwork.

All models are available to all teams. Licenses are not tied to specific models. Models overlap to some extent. For example, all models have "Team Effectiveness" as their outcome. Some factors also overlap. If you measure a factor as part of one model, its data will also be available as part of other models that use it.

Recommendation: focus on one foundation model and augment it with others

We recommend organizations pick one model as the foundation. Which model is most suitable depends on the type of teams and the focus of a change initiative for which data is collected. Other models can be used additionally by teams based on preference and usefulness.
