Concept: Theory of Mind
Understanding, "Theory of Mind", is first knowing that everything is theoretical. We have not reached that level of technology and scientific capabilities to create this kind of Artificial Intelligence (AI). To reach this level of AI, such machines would need to understand the concept and process of the human mind, connecting thoughts and emotions of living things and how that affects behavior of living things. To achieve this, personally I believe is nearly impossible to do, due to the fact that the human mind is so complex and instinctual. The question I would ask is, "How are machines able to grasp that kind of knowledge that are genetically stored inside humans?". With this, we reach the point that everything that consist of the thought of, "Theory of Mind", are all theories. In hopes and thoughts that at some point we can reach that level and create an AI that is capable of such understandings.
Continued Thoughts: Theory of Mind
Given the idea that AI are able to process the human mind would be change the world completely. To think that we could create something from nothing and "it" becoming an actual "thing", which to our understanding be called, a "robot". A robot would essentially be able to comprehend human thoughts, emotions, and ability to do what, we "humans" can do which is a crazy thought in itself given the fact that people have a hard time understanding each other as is. This leads me to wonder, what exactly is "their" understanding of the human mind and how do "they" know that, that is the correct form of thinking and understanding? There is so much thought that can go into that question and would eventually lead to political views and so much more that the conversation would be endless, therefore we can leave our thoughts there and wonder the possibilities.
Near Future: Theory of Mind
There is no doubt that the intelligence of AI will only increase, how soon or quickly AI evolves into this "Theory of Mind", depends on "us". Robot workers, self-driving cars to flying cars, simple or complex intelligence and designs for AI are all on the way to our lives which may possibly change how society sees itself and the way it works. For better or worse this will ultimately be our future.
