Taking Screenshots - syd711/vpin-studio GitHub Wiki

The VPin Studio server can take screenshots from the different screens of your frontend. This can come in handy e.g. if you want to participate in competitions where is it required to submit screenshots. You have different options to take these screenshots.

Take Screenshots from VPin Studio

Open the Cabinet Monitor from the main toolbar:

Press the Screenshot button from the Cabinet Monitor toolbar. The current screenshot is taken from all screens that are currently enabled in the monitor. An automated download starts afterwards, so that you can save the bundles screenshots.

Take In-Game Screenshots

To take in-game screenshots, you first have to configure the key binding that is used to generate them. Open the VPin Studio preferences and go to the section Controller Setup. There you find a button to configure all inputs that can be handled by the VPin Studio server.

When the screenshot button is pressed, the server generates screenshots for all active screens of the Cabinet Monitor. If you do not wish or need all screens, you need to disable the screen in the Cabinet Monitor dialog.

A bundle with the generated screenshot can be found on the VPin Studio server's installation folder resources/screenshots.

By the time of writing the screenshots must be downloaded manually from the cabinet. Note that a remote file browser is planned so that you can also access all screenshots later remotely.

Cabinet Monitor Controls

Beyond the Screenshot button, the Cabinet Monitor toolbar has a few controls worth knowing about:

Cabinet Monitor

  • Mode - switch between Frontend Screens (shows the displays your frontend has configured, the default) and All Monitors (shows every physical monitor Windows reports). The Screens menu for individually enabling/disabling a preview only applies in Frontend Screens mode.
  • Screens - a checklist to show or hide individual screen previews; the ones you leave enabled are what get included when you press Screenshot.
  • Preview Refresh - how often (1-60 seconds) the live previews update. Lower values are more responsive but more CPU-intensive.
  • Zoom in / out - scales the preview canvas from 20% to 100%.
  • Reload (refresh icon, tooltip "Reload screen positioning") - re-reads your frontend's screen/monitor layout. Use this after changing monitor or screen positions in your frontend's own setup, so the Cabinet Monitor picks up the change without needing a server restart. It doesn't delete or affect any table media.
