3rd Party Preferences - syd711/vpin-studio GitHub Wiki
This section provides additional preferences for the additional 3rd party software components that have been integrated through the Studio.
Backglass Server
The Backglass Server section provides the global default settings for this component. The setting will effect the editing of backglass data in the backglass manager view.
Direct Output Framework
You can setup an automatic sync between your cabinet and the DOF config tool here. Note that the 32-bit and 64-bit setup have been merged inside DOF, so there is no need for separate installations anymore and only one installation folder is supported here. You can also trigger a DOF synchornization everytime view the drop-down menu of the preferences splitmenu button.
DOFLinx
The DOFLinx framework can be launched together with the VPin Studio Server to have less environment setup hassle.
PinEMHi
The PinEMHi framework can be launched together with the VPin Studio Server to have less environment setup hassle. It also provides input methods for the configuration options of pinemhi, such as your account data if you plan to use the pinemhi monitor to participate in the various competition from the pinemhi leaderboard.
Besides auto-start and the pinemhi.ini editor, this page lets you configure most of pinemhi's own settings without leaving the Studio:
- Options - show Replays and/or Buyins in the output.
- User Credentials - your pinemhi.com Name and Code, used to submit scores to the pinemhi leaderboard.
- Keys - a key binding for the score popup, for starting challenges, for the weekly challenge, for 5-minute mode, and an exit key that should match your frontend's own exit key so 5-minute mode behaves correctly.
- Sounds - voice announcements for 5-minute mode status/warnings, with a choice of 7 voices (English, German and French, male/female).
- Online - which online score types are shown: Personal Scores, Personal Special Scores, Best Scores, Friend Scores, Cup Scores and Badges, plus a Challenges Skill level (kiddie / normal / insane).
PINemHi Online Score Settings
- Friends - up to 9 friends, entered by their PINemHi Leaderboard name, used for the Friend Scores option above.
PINemHi Friends List
A separate Edit PINemHi Display Settings dialog controls how the on-screen popup itself looks: font and background color, font selection, a "No Background" option, cabinet view (rotates the popup 270°), auto-rotate between popups with a configurable interval, which screen it appears on (or a manual pixel offset instead), and an "Extra Background" option to mask frontend images behind the popup for games that use the pinemhi leaderboard.
PinVOL
PinVOL is a powerful tool to change the volume settings of your stereo or surround sound system/SSF. The VPin Studio does integrate PinVOL so that you launch PinVOL together with the VPin Studio Server and can change the global defaults in this preferences. In addition to this, you can change the PinVOL volume settings of every table in the Table Data Manager.
VPX Mobile Settings
This section enables and configures .vpxz file support, used to package tables for installation on the VPX mobile app. See VPXZ Files for the full workflow of bundling and installing tables on a mobile device.
VPin MAME
The global default settings for all MAME based settings can be setup here. If the settings are overwritten by the default settings, the values from this page are used.
Virtual Pinball Spreadsheet
This page controls how the VPin Studio tracks updates from the Virtual Pinball Spreadsheet. Show VPS table status in table overview is the master switch - turning it off hides all VPS status indicators and disables the asset-type checkboxes below it. When it's on, you can choose exactly which asset types are tracked for update notifications: ALT Color, ALT Sound, Backglass, POV, PUP Pack, ROM, Sound/Music, Topper, Tutorial and Wheel.
An Author Deny List (comma-separated, case-insensitive) lets you stop receiving update notifications from specific authors going forward - it only suppresses new notifications and doesn't hide ones you've already seen. Use Update VPS Database to force a fresh download of the VPS database.

DMD Device Settings
Settings for the dmddevice.ini file, per VPX emulator. Choose the emulator at the top, then configure:
- Network Settings - enable a DMD Stream to receive DMD frames over a WebSocket, used for screenshots that should include the real DMD content. Use Update to regenerate the stream URL if it becomes invalid.
- Virtual DMD Settings - Virtual DMD Enabled, DMD Always On Top, DMD Ignore Aspect Ratio, and whether
settings are saved into the Windows registry or into the
dmddevice.inifile directly.
Virtual DMD Settings
These fields are disabled until an emulator with a valid dmddevice.ini is selected.
