Makerspace of Southwest Jiaotong University was founded on the 16th of December, 2013, which is currently located at the fourth floor of Southwest Jiaotong University's engineering training center, block A, Xipu town, Pidu district of Chengdu. Covering an area of 1500 square meters, our makerspace has 7 workshops, 2 mentors studios and 2 maker studios. For example, a rapid prototyping manufacturing workshop, electrical workshop, wood workshop, metal workshop, digital media workshop, design creative workshop and iot workshop. We also adopts a membership-based open management. From Jiuli to Xipu, we've witnessed the development of local maker group. Please find out more in "Major Events".

Our makerspace is the main platform for the innovation and entrepreneurship practice of Southwest Jiaotong University's "education-practice-incubation-research" four-in-one ecosystem and it’s also a vital component of international innovation and entrepreneurship college. We persist innovation as guidance and interest as bond, encourage cross-disciplinary communication and cooperation, set up open innovation and entrepreneurship practice platform for students, teachers, alumnus and community and nurture innovative teams, as an effort to promote undergraduates’ ability.

On June, 2014, teacher Jun Li, leading his team, workshop plus social makers and engineers from Intel, undertook the Sino-US Young Maker Competition Chengdu Division. On the December of 2014, we co-founded the Intel-SWJTU college student maker activity center with Intel Corporation. May, 2015, SWJTU Makerspace was acknowledged with the first batch of "Chengdu Zhongchuang Space" title by Chengdu Science and Technology Bureau. October, 2015, included in the National Technology Business Incubator System. December, 2015, became the chairman unit of Chengdu Makerspace League. December, 2016, co-founded the China High Speed Rail—SWJTU maker center to fuel the innovation in the field of rail transportation. Held Sino-US Young Maker Competition in a roll from 2015 to 2017. December, 2017, became the first batch of Sino-US Young Maker Exchange Center.

  2. 2013.12.24. Cooperated with Intel on Higher Education Projects and donated the first batch of Galileo open source hardware development boards in Southwest China
  3. 2013.12.30. Leaders and engineers of Intel’s Higher Education Projects Department, Product Engineering Department, and Testing Department conducted exchange and interaction of a project.

  7. 2014.3. Chengdu Daily ‘Global Maker Marathon’ debuted in Chengdu, various creative products completed within 30 hours — ‘Tackle-it’ suitcase follows wherever the master goes.
