Specific legacy - sustany/dvg GitHub Wiki
Specific legacy is a gift made in a will of a specific thing to an individual. Specific legacies are to be contrasted with general legacies that may not specify the object or the beneficiary. Courts will only acknowledge a specific legacy if the testators intentions were clear. For example, Donna bequests her grandmothers ruby ring to her daughter Stephanie. A court would have no problem specifying the ring or the intended beneficiary. Usually, specific legacy refers to items and interests other than real estate, but sometimes specific legacy refers to a gift of real estate called a devise.
