A resolution is a formal statement of opinion or a�decision to take an action.�

• In judicial proceedings, �resolution� means a judgment or decision of the court.
• In the context of a legislative practice, �resolution� is just a form in which a legislative body expresses an opinion or a purpose with respect to a given matter or topic that is temporary in nature. It denotes the adoption of a motion, the�subject-matter�of which does not constitute a statute.
• In corporations, a corporate resolution is a written document containing authorization, usually by a corporation's board of directors, documenting a binding decision made on behalf of the corporation.
