The term interlocutoryis used to indicate a lack of finality. For example:
- An interlocutory decreeis a judgment that does not settle all of the issues of a case and where the further action by the court is needed to settle the controversy.
- In contrast, a final judgment resolves all issues in dispute and leaves nothing for the court to do but enter judgment.
- An interlocutory orderis a non-final, temporary order issued during the course of litigation.
- An interlocutory appealis an appeal of a non-final order.
