Express notice, also known as actual notice, is when a person is told something directly through a written document or verbally. Once the person has been provided express notice, they have specific knowledge of the fact or proceeding. An example of express notice is a tenant providing a landlord with written notice that they plan on moving out at the end of their lease. The landlord is unable to claim they did not have knowledge the tenant wasn�t planning on renewing their lease since they were given express notice from the tenant of their plans to move out.�
