The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 was an omnibus bill that contained multiple provisions to reduce U.S. dependence on oil and increase energy efficiency. A few of the largest provisions include:
- Changing the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standard for total fleets to 35 MPH by 2020.
- Incrementally expanding the Renewable Fuel Standard Program�s standard to 36 billion gallons of renewable fuel by 2022.
- Creating multiple programs to fund and encourage innovative ventures to increase energy efficiency.
- Establishing new energy efficiency standards for many consumer and commercial electronics such as lighting, appliances, and air conditioning products.
