Building a WLAN in Packet Tracer - sullivaneg/TechJournal-NET150 GitHub Wiki

In this lab we connected 2 laptops wirelessly to a wireless router and to a web server to access the web server from the laptops.

Entry for configuring a wireless router's network

Go to the wireless router in packet tracer, click on the GUI tab to set it up in the graphical interface. You can change the internet connection type and the internet IP address from the first section. Then if you scroll down to network setup you can set up the router IP options and enable or disable the DHCP server. Then IMPORTANT: scroll to the bottom and click save settings.

Entry for configuring a wireless connection on a laptop

To configure the wireless connection on a laptop you go into the laptop, go to the desktop and click on PC wireless. Then if the SSID broadcast is turned on you can go to the connect tab and find the network click on that and put the password in. Or if SSID broadcast is turned off like how it is in this lab, you go to profiles and click new. You name your profile whatever you want to name. Then you put in the name (SSID) of the network into “Wireless Network name”, move to the next screen and click the “obtain network settings automatically (DHCP)” box. Then move to the next screen and choose the security level of your network. In this lab’s case we used WPA2-personal and put in the password on the next screen. Then save the profile and click connect to connect to the network. If you go back to the Link Information tab you should see that you are connected to a network.

Include any troubleshooting steps you had to take

I actually didn’t have any trouble with this lab so I didn’t run into any troubleshooting scenarios.
