General Operation
Elite Intel is designed to be intuitive, but understanding a few key concepts will help you get the most out of your AI Sidekick. No need to memorize commands-just talk naturally, and let the AI do the heavy lifting. Here’s how to make it work for you.
Game Controls and Commands
Elite Intel is your data analyst and occasional ship operator, handling tasks like deploying landing gear, heat sinks, hardpoints, toggling supercruise, initiating hyperspace jumps, opening cargo scoops, displaying maps, activating the Filtered Spectrum Scanner (FSS), switching between combat and analysis modes, opening UI panels, playing GalNet news, or issuing commands to deployed fighters. It can’t fire weapons, operate your game controller, HOTAS, or mouse - only keyboard-mapped controls are accessible.
Be direct for best results. Say “deploy landing gear,” and it’s done. Vague requests like “prepare for landing” might work (70% chance it drops the gear), but could just prompt a verbal “Preparing for landing” without action. The AI interprets intent, so clarity is key.
Queries
Elite Intel’s data analysis shines when you ask for information. It pulls from in-game journal files, EDSM, and its own session data (e.g., FSS scans). Be specific for detailed answers, or keep it broad for summaries.
- Exploration: After scanning a new system with 43 planets, ask about life, rings, minerals, or terraformable worlds. The AI needs your scan data first, so complete your scans before querying. Example: “What’s in this system?” yields a summary; “Any terraformable planets?” gets specifics.
- In the Bubble: Ask about security, threat assessments, or points of interest. For example, “Are there hazardous resource sites here?” might return, “No hazardous sites, but there are low and high resource sites.” or it might only say "no hazardous sites found" because you asked about hazardous ones specifically. Broad questions like “Any resource sites around?” get broader answers. The AI won’t list every signal unless asked.
- EDSM Data: The AI uses crowd-sourced EDSM data for markets or points of interest, but it’s not real-time. Only commanders running EDMC contribute, so data may be outdated.
- Missions: For pirate massacre missions, ask, “How many kills left?” or “What’s the potential profit?” The AI tracks your progress and bounties collected.
- Carrier Stats: Query your carrier’s status, like, “Use reserve balance, How long can we run the carrier with 31 million credits per week?”. AI does not know which balance is used to pay for the carrier. You have to tell it which one to use in calculation. Or “Check our tritium supply, how far can we jump with 80 tons of fuel per 500 light-year jump?” Specific questions yield precise answers; vague ones like “How’s the carrier doing?” get general summaries (e.g., credits and fuel levels).
You can also tap into AI's general knowledge for non-game queries. Ask anything-it’s not just about Elite Dangerous.
Chats and Idle Conversations
Elite Intel isn’t just a tool; it’s a conversationalist-except in Professional Mode, where it skips idle chit-chat and stays business-like. In other modes, talk about anything. In Rogue Mode, things might get spicy-expect debates about the best London pub or other tangents that could eat hours.
Final Notes
Experiment with commands and queries to discover what Elite Intel can do. Be clear, stay in control, and have fun. It’s your Sidekick, not your commander. If you hit quirks or have questions, reach out, and let’s improve it together. o7, commander.
