Working with ImmPort - steviep42/immport GitHub Wiki

ImmPort is a site offering data sets that can be downloaded. This is also supplemented by the ImmuneSpace site (see link in sidebar) that can be used to get analyzed datasets. Using ImmPort requires you to create a user id and password. After that you can search and download a study. However, you must first install the Aspera client which in turn requires installation within your browser. The reason they require Aspera is because the study files can be large so the aspera client is designed to manage the downloads efficiently.

The instructions for installing the Aspera Client are available here Follow these instructions for your browser of choice. I got it to work on Chrome and Safari. I had some initial trouble getting it to work on Firefox but eventually it worked. You don't need to install it on all your browsers - just one of them. As an example, go to the ImmPort Shared Data Link and you can search for a study, for example SDY180.

Let's say that you want to download the entire folder or just some of the files. Click the icon for downloading next to "SDY180" in the "Study" column. This will take you to a window that looks like the following from which you can browse and then select specific files for downloading.

From here you could select some files such as in the example below. You could then click the blue "Download" button to initiate the transfer/download.

From here you will get a pop up from the IBM Aspera client that manages the download. It will look something like the following:
