Status is a Superapp designed to function in a privacy-preserving and peer-to-peer manner. As a sovereign communication tool that enables private, secure, and censorship-resistant messaging, browsing, and transactions. It is an open-source, decentralised platform designed to empower individuals and communities with complete control over their communication and digital interactions.

At its core, Status is more than just an app—it is part of a broader movement within the Institute of Free Technology (IFT) that aims to build a foundation of self-sovereign, networked societies, where individuals can communicate, transact, and govern without reliance on centralised authorities.

It integrates three core verticals:

• Chat/Social: Focused on user retention through messaging and social interactions.
• Financial Services: Providing revenue-generating features like payments, lending, wealth management, and insurance.
• Lifestyle Services: Enabling a circular crypto economy with services such as gig economy offerings, storefronts for small to medium enterprises, and more.

Status is designed so that entire communities can fork it and run their own sovereign networks, ensuring freedom from deplatforming and censorship.

Status is one of several projects working towards a decentralised, censorship-resistant, and self-sovereign future. It operates alongside and benefits from other IFT initiatives, including:

• Logos – A movement focused on creating decentralised infrastructure for open societies. Logos provides the foundational tools for Status and similar projects.
