Antimatter Collector - sswelm/KSP-Interstellar-Extended GitHub Wiki
This mod adds a magnetic field around every body in the solar system. Their strengths vary based on the Sidereal Rotational Velocity ( wikipedia ) and mass of the body. These large magnetic fields trap charged particles, including antimatter, creating radiation belts. (On earth we call these the Van Allen radiation belts after the dude who discovered them.) Antimatter collectors consume electricity to trap antimatter and store it, provided you've placed them inside a radiation belt. Naturally, antimatter particles can only be found in those parts of the magnetic fields that lie outside the body's atmosphere.
[Science Laboratory](wiki/Science Laboratory) can also create Antimatter.
This is a map of Kerbin's Antimatter Collection Rates.
The antimatter collectors do not need to be on the focused vessel to collect antimatter, so long as they are in a stable orbit above the atmosphere you may pilot other vessels and antimatter will continue to generate "in the background."
Pro Tip
- A single properly placed collector in orbit of Kerbin can yield almost 4 AM per day.
- A single properly placed collector in orbit of Jool can yield over 570 AM per day.
- Multiple collectors can be placed on a craft to yield large amounts of AM, even in Kerbin orbit.
