This is an informal registry of pub servers. Please add your own pub if you start one!
Some pubs have invite codes listed on this page, others on their own website, and others are private & require you to email / message the pub operator to get an invite code. Pubs marked by :money_with_wings: have invite codes for sale.
Consider a room instead!
Most of the secure scuttlebutt ecosystem is moving to use a room server instead of a pub because it provides a connection service without hosting of feeds and also can act as an identity server. So, leave the pub and get a room.
What is a pub?
A pub is just like any other peer in the scuttlebutt network, that replicates feeds to other peers, except it also (generally):
- is always online
- has a public ip address
- offers invite codes
What is an invite code?
An invite code looks something like this:
foo.bar.co.nz:8009:@6lOh+rLq4MQubPQoKenbB827dh5NVc2FAjy30MTc08o=.ed25519~93RP4aT6YNm+7++Ab3VQd+w/CL2w6p8QuX7fRaUs9cY=
It tells your client / local peer how to find the pub (foo.bar.co.nz:8009) and a unique identifier that helps the pub identify that it is in fact an invite code that it gave out. This will make the pub follow you, which helps replicate your feed to a more broad portion of the network!
