General description
The Tobacco Longitudinal Mortality Study (TLMS) consists of a database developed to study the effects of demographic and socio-economic characteristics on differentials in U.S. mortality rates, emphasizing tobacco use.
TLMS is based on a random sample of the non-institutionalized population of the United States and comprises approximately 1.6 million records.

- Information on mortality from death certificates, including cause of death
Limitations
- TLMS data provides a one-time only, baseline, measurement of subjects in a long-term follow-up situation.
