Stroke_MRIs - sporedata/researchdesigneR GitHub Wiki

General description

It is a publicly available stroke MRI dataset containing 2,888 clinical MRIs from acute and subacute stroke patients, complete with manual lesion segmentation and metadata, and supports AI model training by providing supervised data. The availability of this dataset is seen as a catalyst for advancing neuroscience research, emphasizing the importance of centralized data collections.

Approved by the Johns Hopkins Internal Review Board, the dataset includes clinical data and MRIs from patients treated from 2009 to 2019, and covers a wide age range with a slight male predominance and a significant representation of African American/Black patients, providing a diverse demographic sample.

Data on stroke severity, measured by NIHSS scores, and hospitalization length are included, offering insights into the impact of stroke types on patient outcomes. Furthermore, the dataset details prevalent medical conditions among patients and the timing of MRI scans post-symptom onset, providing a comprehensive clinical picture.
