General description

The Cancer Registry of the Republic of Slovenia (SLORA), established in 1950 at the Oncological Institute of Ljubljana, is one of Europe's oldest population-based cancer registries. It has been consistently gathering and publishing data on cancer incidence, prevalence, and patient survival for over 60 years. Accessible through the SLORA portal, this data dates back to 1961. Additionally, the National Institute of Public Health has been collecting data on cancer mortality in Slovenia since 1985.

These data provide insights into the cancer burden in Slovenia and its administrative divisions. They enable assessment of the effectiveness of cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care. Moreover, they serve as a foundation for capacity and resource planning, including personnel, medical equipment, and bed capacities, necessary for comprehensive cancer control and epidemiological research.
