General description
In 2010, the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS) and the IDIAP Jordi Gol collaborated to build the SIDIAP database. Its major goal is to advance research using data from primary care electronic medical records and other related databases.
SIDIAP was created to offer a legitimate and trustworthy database of chosen data from primary care patient records for use in biomedical research. SIDIAP comprises anonymised patient health records for about six million persons (around 80% of the Catalan population) who have been registered in 287 primary care practices across Catalonia since 2005.

Limitations
Because the SIDIAP is a primary care database, some cancer forms are more difficult to identify.
