General description
The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results-Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (SEER-MHOS) linked dataset, is a collaborative creation between the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (MHOS) that serves as a vital tool for researching cancer health outcomes. It offers insights into the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of individuals enrolled in Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs).
This dataset is instrumental in enhancing our comprehension of HRQOL among both cancer patients and survivors who are part of Medicare health plans. It amalgamates clinical data and initial treatment information of cancer-diagnosed individuals from the SEER registry with co-morbidity, demographic, racial/ethnic, self-reported socioeconomic, and other pertinent information from the MHOS. This integration enables researchers to methodically explore HRQOL concerns within this segment of the Medicare population, encompassing both those diagnosed with cancer and those who are cancer-free.
