General description
The Premier Healthcare Database is a dataset that includes real-world data without bias from patients or physicians because they are not involved in the data collection. It consists of a comprehensive, hospital-based healthcare history of each patient in the acute care space. Premier is cross-sectional not longitudinal.
Variable categories
The dataset includes clinical outcomes, disease states, epidemiological data, resource utilization, and healthcare economics.
Limitations
- Longitudinal follow-up is only possible within a given hospital
- Hospitals will go in and out of the database
