General description
The Population-Based Electronic Health Data Environment (PbEHDE) in Taiwan collects and makes data available through it's Department of Informatics, DATASUS. SUS has information on patient admissions in the public network of hospitals, and outpatient visits, among other demographic information.
Limitations
- Out-of-pocket payment for certain expensive medical devices and drugs whose utilization records are not captured in NHI;
- Lag time between the worldwide introduction of new drugs and devices and their availability in Taiwan may be over a year;
- Lack of an approved process to review medical records of those who may have experienced a medical event of interest.
