General description

Consistent with its goals, the Healthcare Delivery Research Program monitors the utilization of screening methods, treatments, new technologies, and other variables that could affect national cancer rates. Access to many of these treatments and technologies is typically through healthcare providers.

Recognizing that the impact of research and technological advancements is contingent on their integration into clinical practice, it is vital to regularly evaluate how physicians adopt new and traditional cancer control technologies. To this end, HDRP has conducted the following surveys assessing physicians' use of these technologies:

  1. National Surveys of Colorectal Cancer Screening Policies and Practices (1999-2000 and 2005-2006)
  2. Physician Survey on Cancer Susceptibility Testing (1999-2000)
  3. National Survey of Primary Care Physicians’ Recommendations and Practice for Breast, Cervical, Colorectal, and Lung Cancer Screening (2006-2007)
  4. National Survey of Energy Balance-related Care among Primary Care Physicians (2008)
  5. Survey of Physician Attitudes Regarding the Care of Cancer Survivors (SPARCCS) (2009)
  6. National Survey of Precision Medicine in Cancer Treatment (2017)
