General description
The Protein Data Bank (PDB) was the inaugural open-access digital database in the fields of biology and medicine. As a premier worldwide repository, PDB offers access to three-dimensional structural data of large biomolecules – including proteins, DNA, and RNA – that are present in all living organisms. This data is crucial for both educational and research purposes, positioning PDB as a key resource in scientific exploration and discovery.
PDB aims to expand the frontiers of fundamental biology, biotechnology, energy, and health through open and sustainable access to the 3D structure, function, and evolution of biological macromolecules contained in the Protein Data Bank (PDB) archive.
