General description
The Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) is a national database containing information about all prescriptions dispensed within the VHA systems beginning in 1999. It includes medication dispensing information for prescription fills, dosing instructions for each prescription, National Drug Code (NDC) identifier, cost, and provider information.

Limitations
- Traditional PBMs may have higher costs. There exist variations in the data on access to drug therapy and the time of the actual drug administration cannot be determined.
