General description
The "List of Excluded Individuals and Entities" (LEIE) is maintained by the Office of Inspector General of the federal Department of Health and Human Services. The "OIG Exclusion List" is another name for this database that is frequently used. The OIG is in charge of maintaining and updating the LEIE. The most severe civil penalty the OIG may impose is exclusion.
The LEIE contains a list of all currently excluded parties prohibited from participating in federal health care programs due to significant professional misconduct or criminal behavior. The LEIE does not contain information on previous exclusions.
