General description

Established in 1991 and later modified in 1996, the National Cancer Registry is an officially designated organization tasked with gathering and organizing data on all cancer instances in Ireland.

The Registry is dedicated to compiling data on the occurrence, treatment, and survival rates of cancer within Ireland, conducting research aimed at enhancing cancer outcomes and decreasing the prevalence of cancer. Its operations encompass:

  • Gathering data on all new cancer cases in Ireland
  • Tracking patterns and results across various forms of cancer
  • Encouraging the application of collected data in both research and the planning and administration of healthcare services
  • Issuing an annual publication of cancer statistics.
