General description
MetaMap is a versatile and adaptable tool crafted to link biomedical texts to the UMLS Metathesaurus, enabling the identification of Metathesaurus concepts mentioned within the text. MetaMap identifies medical concepts from the text and maps them to standard terminologies in the UMLS using a knowledge-intensive approach based on symbolic, natural-language processing (NLP) and computational-linguistic techniques.
