General description
STS Intermacs Database is a North American registry documenting the clinical results of patients who get an FDA-approved mechanical circulatory support (MCS) device to treat progressive heart failure. In a collaborative effort with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and others, it was founded in 2005 at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Longitudinal patient data using an MCS device is available in the Intermacs Database. More than 200 locations now have more than 36,000 patients enrolled.
