General description

Between 2014 and 2019 and with support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), four validated patient-centered measurement systems (ASCQ-Me, Neuro-QoL, NIH Toolbox, and PROMIS) were brought together and made available to the public as a single resource, HealthMeasures. These four precise, flexible, and comprehensive measurement systems assess mental, physical, and social health, life satisfaction, symptoms, along with cognitive, motor, and sensory function.

The HealthMeasures resource was funded by a trans-NIH cooperative agreement supported by 14 NIH Institutes and Centers and provides state-of-the-science assessment of mental, physical, and social health for use across a range of chronic diseases and the general population. These measures provide clinicians, healthcare administrators, policymakers, and researchers with efficient, precise, responsive, and valid measures of functional abilities, general health perceptions, and symptoms surrounding life quality and satisfaction.
