General description
The Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium (BCSC) is a collaboration of six current breast imaging registries and two older registries to conduct research to evaluate and enhance the availability and effectiveness of breast cancer screening in the United States and the outcomes associated therewith. A central Statistical Coordinating Center supports the registries, which annually link up with tumor and pathology registries in their area.
Enhancing current knowledge of breast cancer screening procedures and contributing to the advancement of community-based mammography screening for women with and without a personal history of breast cancer are two key goals of the BCSC.
