The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a hospital-level dataset designed to supplement the data elements in the SID, SASD, and SEDD databases.

Can be linked to patient-level datasets using geographic information (zip codes, ZCTA, longitude/latitude.) and dates.
Linkage to other datasets
- HCUP and AHA are linked between themselves and they can be aggregated.
- AHA can theoretically be linked to any dataset where the hospital name and city are mentioned, although that linkage might require the use of NLP and manual checking
Limitations
- The linkage files are available for only a subset of HCUP Partners because not all of them release AHA identifiers.
