AI-Enabled Company Solutions

Purpose

Companies and projects that can power parts of an AI-first operating model, including:

  • Business Brain: structured company knowledge, memory, context, and organizational intelligence
  • Closed-loop workflows: agents that monitor inputs, take actions, verify results, and continue work
  • AI workforce: persistent agents with roles, delegation, schedules, and communication channels
  • Software factory: agents that turn specifications into tested, reviewed, and deployed software

The list is sorted approximately by how much of a small company's operating model each option could cover. A product that is strong in one department is not necessarily a complete company operating system.

Cost notes

  • Estimates are in USD per month and are planning ranges, not vendor quotes.
  • Model/API usage, integrations, implementation, support, taxes, and human administration can materially increase the total.
  • For self-hosted products, the estimate includes typical infrastructure and model usage but excludes the value of setup and maintenance time.
  • Unpriced means the vendor does not publish enough information to produce a defensible estimate; the range is a budgeting placeholder only.
  • Pricing and availability were reviewed as of July 31, 2026.

Detailed assessments

1. Alook โ€” AI workforce and company coordination

  • Links: Website ยท GitHub
  • Coverage: AI workforce, roles, delegation, email, calendar, kanban, task coordination, and persistent company activity.
  • Assessment: High potential, but early-stage. Alook is the clearest match for the idea of a company made up of human and agent roles. It supports an organizational structure such as CEO, dev, operations, research, sales, and business agents, with email-native communication and autonomous task coordination. It could plausibly run substantial parts of a small company, especially one centered on email, research, sales follow-up, scheduling, and software work. It still needs validation around reliability, permissions, approvals, integrations, security, and production support before being trusted with financial or customer-facing actions.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $25โ€“$350 for self-hosted software, infrastructure, model usage, and light email/calendar services. Hosted @alook.ai agent addresses may add an unpriced fee.

2. Paperclip โ€” agent company control plane

  • Links: Website ยท Cloud ยท Pricing
  • Coverage: Agent org chart, roles, permissions, task ownership, review gates, budgets, cost controls, integrations, and agent runtime management.
  • Assessment: High potential. Paperclip is designed specifically to manage AI agents as a company: define roles, assign work, apply review gates, monitor costs, and stop agents when budgets are reached. It is a strong control plane to combine with agents such as OpenClaw, Hermes, Claude Code, or Codex. It is not itself the complete Business Brain or a replacement for CRM, finance, or operational systems, but it provides important governance that most general-purpose agent runtimes lack.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: About $11/month for the hosted control plane at the published โ‚ฌ10/company/month price, plus model/API usage. A practical small-company budget is $60โ€“$510/month. Self-hosting avoids the Paperclip fee but still requires infrastructure and model costs.

3. Base โ€” company Brain and founder operating system

  • Links: Base
  • Coverage: Company Brain, sales pipeline, marketing, finance, legal, investor relations, hiring, connected tools, and a natural-language command bar.
  • Assessment: High potential, but independently verify product availability and depth. Base is one of the closest conceptual matches to the Business Brain described in the AI-first operating model. Its stated goal is to connect company data and let a founder operate the business through plain-English commands. It appears particularly appropriate for a lean startup or small company. Because detailed public pricing, technical documentation, permissions, and production guarantees are limited, it should initially be evaluated through a controlled pilot rather than trusted with unrestricted financial, legal, or customer actions.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $100โ€“$1,000+ planning range, unconfirmed. Public pricing was not located; expect quote-based or early-access pricing plus connected SaaS and model costs.

4. Crewlet โ€” autonomous company OS

  • Links: Website ยท Console
  • Coverage: Proactive agents for growth, sales, support, product development, engineering, SEO, advertising, and analytics.
  • Assessment: High potential, but pricing and product maturity require validation. Crewlet explicitly positions itself as an autonomous company OS and appears broader than a single-purpose agent. It could potentially run a meaningful portion of a digital or ecommerce business. The main unknowns are the actual level of autonomy, system integrations, approval controls, observability, and customer references. Treat it as an early-stage operating system candidate, not as a proven replacement for a full enterprise stack.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $100โ€“$1,000+ planning range, unconfirmed. Public pricing was not located.

5. OpenClaw โ€” always-on multi-channel agent runtime

  • Links: Website ยท GitHub ยท Docs
  • Coverage: Slack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, browser control, shell, files, cron, webhooks, MCP, skills, multi-agent routing, and isolated workspaces.
  • Assessment: Technically capable, operationally risky without hardening. OpenClaw can serve as the execution layer for department agents that receive requests through company messaging channels and perform work in browsers, files, and connected systems. Its flexibility makes it possible to build a company-agent system, but unrestricted shell access, credentials, community skills, and browser automation create material security and reliability risks. Use curated skills, least-privilege identities, Docker isolation, approval gates, outbound allowlists, spend caps, monitoring, and backups before production use.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $75โ€“$500 for managed hosting or a VPS, model/API usage, backups, and monitoring. The software itself is free; managed hosting commonly ranges around $30โ€“$50/month before model usage.

6. Hermes Agent โ€” self-hosted AI chief of staff

  • Links: Website ยท Docs ยท GitHub ยท Company Brain pattern
  • Coverage: Persistent memory, scheduled automations, self-improving skills, subagents, MCP, web control, and messaging through Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, and CLI.
  • Assessment: Capable for a small company when paired with a structured external Brain. Hermes is well suited to meeting preparation, sales follow-ups, proposals, client history, research, content, project updates, and recurring operational work. Its native memory should not be treated as the complete company source of truth; use a structured, versioned Brain containing clients, calls, projects, proposals, decisions, and timelines. It is a strong low-cost operations copilot, but still requires self-hosting, integration design, and human review for consequential actions.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $20โ€“$500, consisting of approximately $5โ€“$50 for infrastructure and $15โ€“$450 for model, search, browser, and tool usage. Local models can lower variable costs while increasing hardware and administration requirements.

7. Result โ€” internet-business operating system

  • Links: Result ยท YC launch ยท Result Lab
  • Coverage: Business creation, product building, payments, incorporation, marketing, support, finance, SEO, and ongoing operation of internet businesses.
  • Assessment: Promising but not yet generally viable for production evaluation. Result is unusually aligned with the goal of starting and operating an internet business through agents. Its private-beta status and limited public information make it difficult to assess reliability, data ownership, controls, pricing, and long-term availability. It should be tracked closely and tested if access is available, but it should not yet be the sole operating system for a business that depends on it.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $50โ€“$500+ planning placeholder, unconfirmed. The product was reported as private beta with no public pricing as of July 2026.

8. Glean โ€” enterprise Business Brain

  • Links: Website ยท Core Suite pricing ยท Enterprise Flex pricing
  • Coverage: Permission-aware enterprise search, knowledge graph, company data, assistant, agents, connected SaaS applications, and organizational intelligence.
  • Assessment: Highly viable for medium and large organizations; usually excessive for a very small company. Glean is one of the strongest products for making a large organization queryable and legible to AI. It can become the Business Brain and knowledge layer, but it generally needs separate workflow and transactional systems such as Workato, ServiceNow, Salesforce, or Microsoft tools to execute closed-loop work. It is an enterprise procurement and implementation project rather than a lightweight founder tool.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $4,000โ€“$6,500+ for a rough 100-user planning case, based on commonly reported quote ranges of approximately $40โ€“$65/user/month. Actual pricing is quote-only and may include implementation, support, minimum seats, and usage-based AI credits.

9. Buzz โ€” human/agent collaboration workspace

  • Links: Buzz ยท GitHub ยท Block announcement
  • Coverage: Shared rooms, human/agent collaboration, signed events, agent identity, workflows, and self-hosted or hosted relays.
  • Assessment: Useful company collaboration substrate, not a complete operating system. Buzz can serve as the shared workplace where humans and agents coordinate, review work, and maintain a visible event stream. It does not appear to replace the Business Brain, CRM, finance, HR, or full workflow layer. It is best paired with a runtime such as Goose, Hermes, OpenClaw, or Codex and with explicit business-system integrations.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $20โ€“$400 for model usage and self-hosted infrastructure. Buzz software and early hosted access were described as free, but limits, SLAs, and future pricing may change.

10. Houston โ€” team agent workspace and app-building platform

  • Links: Houston ยท Pricing ยท Startups
  • Coverage: Shared agent workspaces, missions, integrations, industry-specific AI-native applications, and building software that agents operate directly.
  • Assessment: Good for lean teams and builder-operators. Houston is useful when the company wants agents to operate applications rather than merely answer questions, and when domain experts need to define workflows without waiting for traditional feature development. It can support meaningful product, operations, and automation work, but it is not yet a complete company Brain or enterprise control plane.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $0 for up to three people; approximately $12/seat/month annual or $15/seat/month monthly for the published team plan, plus any required AI subscription or usage. A 10-person team is approximately $120โ€“$150/month before model costs.

11. AICoworker โ€” always-on general coworker

  • Links: GitHub
  • Coverage: Goal delegation, tools, browser automation, messaging, 24/7 local execution, and usage/cost statistics.
  • Assessment: Promising for browser-heavy small-company operations. AICoworker could handle research, portal updates, administrative follow-up, and other computer-use work. It lacks the demonstrated breadth of a full company operating system, so it should be paired with a structured Brain, task system, and approval process. It is source-available rather than fully open source; internal company use is permitted, while SaaS, OEM, or hosted redistribution requires commercial licensing.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $25โ€“$350 for infrastructure and model/API usage. The software is available for internal company use without a standard per-seat fee; commercial hosting terms require contacting the vendor.

12. AFKBOT โ€” durable task-flow runtime

  • Links: Website ยท GitHub ยท PyPI
  • Coverage: Memory, MCP, browser control, subagents, durable tasks, dependencies, review steps, and long-running task flows.
  • Assessment: Promising runtime, not a turnkey company platform. AFKBOT can provide durable execution for recurring company tasks and multi-step workflows. It would need a separate organizational model, Business Brain, integrations, and governance to operate departments. Internal business use is allowed, but selling or reselling it as a hosted service requires permission under its source-available license.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $25โ€“$350 for infrastructure and model/API usage; no standard software fee is listed for internal use.

13. OpenWorker โ€” local deliverable-producing coworker

  • Links: Website ยท GitHub
  • Coverage: Finished documents, Slack messages, calendar updates, customer briefs, reports, inbox triage, files, and everyday tools.
  • Assessment: Useful for individual company functions, but not a complete company operator. OpenWorker is attractive for privacy-conscious teams because it runs locally, supports bring-your-own model keys, and checks before consequential actions. It can act as an executive assistant, operations assistant, or communications assistant, but it does not provide the multi-department coordination, company Brain, or enterprise governance needed to run the whole company.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $20โ€“$300 for model/API usage and local infrastructure. The application is free; local Ollama models can eliminate API charges if suitable hardware is available.

14. Multica โ€” managed parallel-agent coordination

  • Links: Website ยท GitHub ยท Docs
  • Coverage: Agent task boards, managed or self-hosted runtimes, daemon-based execution, parallel agents, provider integrations, and task assignment.
  • Assessment: Useful coordination layer, especially for engineering and structured work queues. Multica can coordinate multiple agent providers and keep tasks moving without manual prompting. It is not a full Business Brain or company operating system, but it can be a valuable execution layer underneath a company control plane. Public cloud pricing was not located, so the estimate is uncertain.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $20โ€“$300+ for infrastructure and model/provider usage; cloud platform fees, if applicable, are not publicly clear.

15. Loopany โ€” persistent memory and recurring agent loops

  • Links: GitHub ยท Loopany platform ยท Crewlet
  • Coverage: Long-horizon missions, recurring tasks, outcome recording, self-improvement proposals, persistent references, and local-agent execution.
  • Assessment: Strong building block for closed loops, not turnkey. Loopany addresses an important missing layer: the agent records outcomes, reflects on what happened, and carries useful knowledge into later runs. It can support CRM, marketing, research, metrics, and operational missions once domain skills are added. The project documentation describes it as suitable for single-user dogfooding, so production maturity and domain packs should be validated.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $20โ€“$300 for free software plus local infrastructure and model/API usage.

16. Conductor โ€” parallel software-agent environment

  • Links: Website ยท Pricing ยท Docs
  • Coverage: Parallel coding agents, shared workspaces, harnesses, GitHub/Linear workflows, and software development coordination.
  • Assessment: Viable for the software department, not the whole company. Conductor can increase engineering throughput and make software-factory patterns practical for a small team. It does not provide company-wide knowledge, sales, finance, support, HR, or general operational workflows.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $0 for the app currently; $60/user/month for the published team plan when available, plus model-provider subscriptions or API usage. For five users, plan on approximately $100โ€“$1,000/month depending on model usage and parallelism.

17. QM โ€” custom multi-agent business harness

  • Links: GitHub ยท QM Cloud pricing
  • Coverage: Deployment skills, infrastructure setup, web sign-in, connector credentials, Slack access, live verification, and custom multi-agent workflows.
  • Assessment: Strong custom-build foundation, not an out-of-the-box company OS. QM is relevant for organizations willing to build their own agent departments and control plane. It may be especially useful for teams that want agents deployed in their own cloud accounts and integrated with internal systems. The tradeoff is that the organization must design the Brain, workflows, interfaces, policies, testing, and support model itself.
  • Estimated Monthly Cost: $50โ€“$750 for self-hosted cloud infrastructure, model usage, and operational support. Published QM Cloud developer pricing starts around $0.12โ€“$0.75/hour plus AWS usage, while enterprise pricing is higher; exact costs depend on deployment hours and scale.
