When joining the lab, here are a few things you need to do:
- Take a second to read our visions and values (and please feel free to suggest any improvements!).
- Get officially added to members of the team (if not already there) by asking Robbie.
- Get added to the lab Slack by asking Robbie for an invite.
- See here for more practical things in the department.
- Computing setup
- Get a GitHub account (if you are a student or a teacher, sign up to GitHub Education to access Pro and Copilot.
- Get organised: Zotero for tracking all papers and reading, Slack for quick communication.
- Read, and then contribute to this wiki. It's a living, breathing document that needs your input!
Getting started
Once you’ve settled in with your accounts and tools, here’s how to get started:
- Fill out goals planning document. Think about your skills and what you’d like to learn.
- Explore ongoing projects. Check Slack updates to see what’s happening now and inquire with the PI.
- Propose new ideas. Draft a short description: your question, what data you would need, what method you would try.
