Active Tasks
The Active Tasks panel is a panel on the right-side of the screen that acts as the main hub of interaction for chunk tasks and some other utilities. It consists of multiple tabs, as well as a few extra buttons below the tabs.
Active Chunk Tasks
The Active Chunk Tasks tab is the first tab in the panel, and shows a list of active chunk tasks given the current state of the map. In the header of the tab, it will show the number of tasks checked-off vs total active tasks as a fraction (or a percentage if the respective setting is turned on). If the setting to hide checked-off tasks is turned on, there will also be an eye icon in the tab header that can be clicked to toggle to show checked-off tasks or not.
In the body of the tab, all active chunk tasks are listed, each falling under one of five headers:
- Skill Tasks - Up to one task per in-game skill, chosen as the highest level task for that skill based on the map's chunk rules and unlocked chunks
- BiS Tasks (Best in Slot) - Up to one task per equipment slot per style, chosen as the strongest piece of equipment accessible within the unlocked chunks. For standard BiS gear, this favors offensive stats over defensive ones, as long as there is no negative attack bonuses for the specific style. Other BiS task add-ons, added in Chunk Rules, may be defined differently.
- Quest Tasks - Tasks for each quest that is partially or fully completable within the unlocked chunks, unless partial quests are hidden via that chunk rule. Partial steps are based on a custom numbering and lettering system, and are not the same steps as listed on either the OSRS Wiki page or the Quest Helper plugin. Clicking on part of the text of the task that says 'step 3' or similar will open the Quest Steps window, showing what that exact step is.
- Diary Tasks - Tasks for each diary step that is completable within the unlocked chunks, unless partial diaries are hidden via that chunk rule. By default, only the lowest tier diary tasks are required, until that tier is completed (only Easy tasks are required until it's fully done, then only Medium tasks are required, etc.), unless the specific chunk rule is turned on to require all tiers at once. Combat Achievement tasks are also listed here, if required via the chunk rule. Clicking on part of the text of the task that says 'task 5' or similar will open the Diary Steps window, showing what that exact task is.
- Other Tasks - All other tasks that don't fit into other categories are listed here. All of these tasks are from optional chunk rules being turned on, like Collection Log tasks, Kill X tasks, All Drops tasks, and more. Each task header can also be clicked to collapse the header and hide all tasks within it temporarily.
Each task has a respective checkbox that can be clicked to mark the task as "done". On Quest and Diary tasks that give xp rewards, the XP Reward window will also pop up when the task is checked-off.
Each task also has a sliders icon button to the right of it, which can be clicked to open a dropdown with options for that task:
- Backlog - Moves the task to the Backlog tab, making it no longer an active task. Used when you don't want to do a task for whatever reason, or if a task is being shown incorrectly (please submit a Bug Report if you believe this should be fixed, too!)
- Backlog Options - Opens the Backlog Options window, which allows leaving a note attached to a backlogged task, or backlogging a specific component of the task instead of the task itself.
- Alternatives - Opens the Alternative Tasks window, which shows equivalent tasks that can be done in substitution of the chosen task instead. This option won't show if there are no alternative options for a given task. If a task does have alternative options, this option will show in the dropdown with a star next to it, as well as a star being displayed on the slider icon itself.
- Details - Opens the Task Details window, which shows details about the task and where access to any items/monsters/npcs needed for the task can be found within unlocked chunks. The Task Details window can also be opened by clicking the body of the task directly.
Accessible Areas
The Accessible Areas tab is the second tab in the panel, and provides buttons to access the Accessible Areas window and the Chunk Sections window. These two windows allow for modifying access to parts of unlocked chunks on the chunk map, with Areas being access to non-overworld parts of the map, and Sections being sub-parts of overworld chunks.
Fun fact: Accessible Areas used to not be handled automatically, and required the player to manually check-off any areas they had access to!
Backlog
The Backlog tab is the third tab in the panel, and shows a list of backlogged tasks and sources. Tasks that are backlogged from the Active Chunk Tasks tab via the sliders icon button option are shown here, and also have a sliders icon button next to them in this tab, too. Clicking the button will present options for that task:
- Un-backlog - Moves the task to the Active Chunk Tasks tab, making it no longer an backlogged task. Used when a previously backlogged task is now completable, or no longer needs to be on the backlog for other reasons.
- Backlog Options - Opens the Backlog Options window, which allows editing or viewing a note attached to the backlogged task.
- Details - Opens the Task Details window, which shows details about the task and where access to any items/monsters/npcs needed for the task can be found within unlocked chunks.
Also present in the Backlog tab is the Backlog Sources button, located at the top of the tab (only when the map is not locked). Clicking the button will open the Backlog Sources window, which allows specific components of tasks to be backlogged, rather than individual tasks themselves. Any source backlogged in this way will appear in the Backlog tab as well, and can be removed from the list via the Backlog Sources window as well.
Completed Tasks
The Completed Tasks tab is the fourth tab in the panel, and shows a list of completed tasks. Tasks that are checked-off in the Active Chunk Tasks tab will be moved to the Completed Tasks tab when a new chunk is rolled, or when manually moved via the Manually Complete Tasks rule.
Next to each task in this tab is an Undo Arrow icon button, which will un-complete the corresponding task when clicked. This will remove the task from the completed tasks list, and will re-show it in the Active Chunk Tasks list again, if applicable. This button is useful for tasks that you may have accidentally completed previously, and want to not have completed anymore.
Bottom-Panel Buttons
At the bottom of the panel are a number of buttons that can be clicked:
- Chunk Rules - This button opens the Chunk Rules window, which allows the specific rules for your map to be selected. These rules will define which tasks you are shown as Active Chunk Tasks, and when they are shown, allowing complete customization of your tasks to match your account and play-style.
- Manually Add To My Chunks - This button opens the Manually Add X window, which allows the player to chose what they wish to manually add to their map: Tasks, items/monsters/npcs/objects/shops, or custom user-inputted tasks. This is a useful tool to customize the tasks shown in your task list, to correctly reflect how you play your account as needed.
- Manually Complete Tasks - This button only appears if the Manually Complete Tasks rule is enabled in Chunk Rules, and will move all checked-off tasks in the Active Chunk Tasks tab to the Completed Tasks tab. This is useful for maps that do not roll chunks via the 'Pick Chunk' or 'Roll 2' buttons, and instead unlock chunks manually, as otherwise no tasks will ever be moved to the Completed Tasks tab.
- Check-off All Active Tasks - This button only appears in Sandbox Mode, and will check-off all tasks currently present in the Active Chunk Tasks tab. This is useful if you want to roll multiple chunks in Sandbox Mode, and want only new tasks to be shown.
