1902 – Meyer Lansky. Mair Suchowljansky was born in 1902 in Grodno Poland, which was occupied by Tsarist Russia. In the US at 10 years old, his family fled the pogroms and went to New York. (The Havana mob. T J English (c)2007 UK).

1921-40 – The Polish military in 1921 took Lithuania’s historic capital, the mainly Polish city of Vilnus, and kept it until Stalin nationalised the city to Lithuania in 1940. (The new cold war. Edward Lucas ©2008 US).

1940 – Stalin authorised the murder at Katyn and elsewhere, in spring 1940, of at least 15,000 Polish officers, captured during the invasion that followed the Nazi Soviet pact. 20 Feb 1941 – First transport of Jews to concentration camps leaves Plotsk Poland. (Chch Star NZ. Today in history 20 Feb 2015).

8 Dec 1941 – In occupied Poland near Lodz, chelmno extermination camps begin operation. Jews taken there are placed in mobile gas vans and driven to a burial place where carbon monoxide from the engine exhaust is fed into the sealed rear killing them. The first gassing victims include 5,000 gypsies who had been deported from the Reich to Lodz. (History place. Holocaust timeline).

19 July 1942 – Himmler orders Operation Reinhard mass deportations of Jews in Poland to extermination camps. (History place. Holocaust timeline).

1943-45 – The Katyn forest massacre in the early war years. Thousands of captive Polish officers were killed. Col John Van Vliet, a US army officer on the scene as a German POW examined bodies and data, when he was freed in 1945 he wrote a report saying the Soviets were responsible. 1943-45 – A US house committee, Ray Madden said that reports reflecting badly on the Kremlin were disposed of. Also Col Henry Szynanski. Army intel G-2, files moved to the dead files of that agency. 3 Nov 1943 – Nazis carry out Operation Harvest Festival in occupied Poland killing 42,000 Jews. (History place. Holocaust timeline).

6 August 1944 – Lodz the last Jewish ghetto in Poland is liquidated with 60,000 Jews sent to Auschwitz. (History place. Holocaust timeline).

Sept 1947 – Stalin called a meeting of the Soviet and East European Communist parties, French and Italian Communists in Poland. International Communist movement. Delegations arrived at Szklarska Porieba. (We know now. John Lewis Gaddis ©1997 US).

22 Sept 1947 – Stalin’s Andrei Zhdanov a member of the politburo, called the main European communist parties, 6 from eastern Europe, plus France and Italy, to a meeting at Szklarska poreba in Poland. 1955-57 – When Gomulka returned to power in Poland in 1955 a special commission into the UB was formed. May 1957 a report by chief investigator Jozef Rozanski from the 10th dept. Polish Communist party. (The hidden hand. Richard J Aldrich ©2001 UK).

1980-85 – William Bell at Hughes aircraft corp 1980. Marian Zacharski was a Polish intel officer. Bell gave classified defence info to Zacharski.
