Mission control - solutionscay/skiff GitHub Wiki
Mission control shows the screen of every session at once, over the whole window. Use it to see which agents work, wait or are done, and to go to one of them.
The keys on this page are the defaults. On macOS, Ctrl+Shift is ⌘+Shift. [keys] in projects.toml can change them, and F1 shows the keys in use.
Open and close
- Press Ctrl+Shift+A, or pick View › Mission control in the menu bar or the palette (Ctrl+Shift+P).
- Press Ctrl+Shift+A again or Esc to close it.
What it shows
- One lane per fleet, as in the tree. Projects outside a fleet share a lane named Projects. That lane shows only when it has sessions.
- Projects with no sessions are left out. In a lane, each project has its badge and name, and takes its project theme.
- Sessions show in tree order. Each screen has a head with the state icon, the agent icon, the title, and the branch when the session is not on the main worktree.
- Each screen shows the last 12 lines of text above the agent's input box, in the session's terminal theme. The screens update every second.
- The top bar counts the sessions on the board and the sessions that wait.
Running / All
The search cell in the top bar has two parts at its right: Running and All.
- Running shows only the sessions that work or wait. Idle sessions and shells at their prompt hide. Running is the default.
- All shows every session.
- Each part shows how many sessions it has. The count includes only the sessions that the search finds.
- Click a part, or press Ctrl+Shift+E, to change it.
- Skiff keeps the choice in
projects.toml,[appearance] mission_filter. Mission control opens with the last choice, also after a restart.
Search
Press Ctrl+Shift+P to search the sessions on the board. The search matches the project, the branch, the agent, the title and the state. The screens that do not match hide.
- Plain arrows, Enter and the list keys work in the search. Left and Right move the cursor in the search text.
- The first Esc clears the search. The next Esc closes mission control.
- The search stays when you close and open mission control again, until Esc clears it.
The screens are read-only. Keys do not go to the sessions, and the panes keep their size.
Keys
| Key | Action |

| Enter | Close mission control and go to the lit session. |
| Ctrl+Shift+E | Show only the running sessions, or all. |
| Ctrl+Shift+P | Search the sessions on the board. Press it again to close the search. |
| Ctrl+Shift+Enter | Go to the lit session, maximized. Press it again to go back to mission control. |
| Ctrl+Shift+J | Close mission control and go to the next waiting session. |
| Ctrl+Shift+L | Close mission control and go to the Skiff agent. If it does not run, start it. |
| Ctrl+Shift+, | Close mission control and open Settings. |
| Ctrl+Shift+A or Esc | Close mission control. When the search has text, the first Esc clears it. |
| Ctrl+Shift+Q (⌘Q on macOS) | Quit. |
Other app keys do nothing while mission control is open.
Mouse
- Move the pointer over a screen to light it. Click a screen to go to that session.
- The wheel scrolls a lane that does not fit. Over a lane head, or over a lane that fits, the wheel scrolls the lanes sideways. Shift+wheel always scrolls sideways.
- When the lanes do not fit, a scrollbar shows under them. Drag the thumb, or press the track to move the thumb there and drag on.
"Update skiffd to see screens."
The screens come from skiffd. An older skiffd cannot send them, and each screen shows this line. Update skiffd to the version of the app. See skiffd › Startup and updates.
