In January 2025, we officially restarted our reading group with a fresh vision and purpose. Building on valuable input from group members, we established a focused theme to guide our efforts. The reading group is designed to foster collaboration, initiative, and engagement while tackling key topics that build a robust mathematical foundation for machine learning and deep learning. By exploring foundational resources, learning to formalize problems, and connecting theory to real-world applications, we aim to create a space that is both intellectually stimulating and deeply rewarding for all participants.

In other words, the goal is to create a space that:

• Builds a strong mathematical foundation for machine learning and deep learning.
• Teaches us how to formalize problems rigorously.
• Is engaging, inspiring, and driven by member initiative.
• Feels rewarding and not like “just another task.”
